Class Details


Saturdays, 10AM-12:30PM 

  • Weekly, ongoing drawing, acrylic and oil painting lessons for artists of all levels. New students may begin at any time. 
  • Small class size provides for personalized attention to students as they work through drawing or painting projects of their choice, in their desired medium.
  • Instructor led demos, short lectures, discussions, studio drawing and painting time with individualized instruction and critique. 
  • $160 per 4 week session. ($15 discount for Gallery  North members) Shorter sessions will be price adjusted to $120 for 3 weeks or $80 for 2 weeks.

  

Whether you are new to drawing or painting or merely want to add some flair to your current techniques, this class will help improve your art with some simple secrets.

Sessions include the basics of drawing and painting: color mixing, concepts, materials, and processes. Students will learn simple and direct approaches to the characteristics of light, shadow, atmospheric perspective, and gradation as applied to drawing and painting the effects of light. 

Working from still-life or photographs, students will learn how to make a strong composition, use value to add structure to imagery, and to paint with both limited and full pallets. 

Irina stresses the process of making art, teaching students to see as an artist and to give more consideration to what to paint or draw, and how to go about it.

For those not bringing their own paint, there is a supply fee payable to the instructor at time of first class:$10/week (acrylic painters) $15/week (oil painters)

Irina Milton

Artist/Instructor


Irina Milton is a highly educated professional artist. She received two Master’s Degrees: one in Mechanical Engineering from Eastern Ukraine University and a second in Fine Art Figurative from the Academy of Art in San Francisco.

Irina’s artwork displays a fundamental element of classical Russian realism with influences from impressionism, master craftsmanship, and attention to detail through a highly developed execution of technique.

Irina is a signature artist of the National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society, and American Women Artists. She has been selected to exhibit her works in many juried and invitational shows, and she has received numerous awards.

With over 20 years teaching experience, Irina started as an art instructor at Try-Dee Arts in Mount Vernon, WA and continued as an art teacher at Everett Community College, Art’s Umbrella Art School, Leviticus Music and Art School, as well as her own studio.
