Gallery North is pleased to present Black Wings and Autumn Leaves, a month-long exhibition featuring the work of Gallery North’s member artists and celebrating the beauty, mystery, and changing character of the autumn season.

As the days grow shorter and the landscape shifts into its autumn palette, Black Wings and Autumn Leaves brings together a diverse collection of artwork inspired by the colors, textures, creatures, and atmosphere of the season. From the movement of birds against an October sky to changing leaves, woodland landscapes, rich natural textures, and the quieter moods of fall, the exhibition offers each artist’s individual interpretation of this evocative time of year.

As an artist-run cooperative, Gallery North is home to a diverse community of local and regional artists working across a wide range of media. Black Wings and Autumn Leaves offers a unique opportunity to experience that variety together in one exhibition, with work spanning painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics, glass, fiber, mixed media, and more.

While each artist brings a distinct voice, process, and point of view, the exhibition is connected by a shared appreciation for the natural world and the sense of transition that defines autumn in the Pacific Northwest. The result is a collection that ranges from colorful and familiar to atmospheric, unexpected, and a little mysterious—much like October itself.

Visitors are invited to meet Gallery North artists during the show’s reception on October 3rd, from 1pm-4pm PST at Gallery North. Artists will be available for introduction and conversation during the Edmonds Art Walk as well, on Thursday, October 15, from 5–8 p.m. The evening is free and open to the public and offers an opportunity to explore the exhibition, talk with participating artists, and experience the creative community of downtown Edmonds.

Black Wings and Autumn Leaves will be on view at Gallery North throughout the month of October. Art lovers, collectors, local residents, and visitors are invited to stop in, discover new work by Gallery North’s member artists, and celebrate the arrival of autumn through art.
